The Virginia Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on April 18, 1982 and is dedicated to the provision of public service to the residents of the community. The chapter's programs and projects are designed to address the needs, concerns, and issues identified within the community. Since its inception, the chapter has been a constant source of service and support to the residents of Virginia Beach.
Presently, the chapter has 127 members who hold at least a Bachelor's degree. Also, a significant percentage of the membership possesses an advanced degree. All members are concerned citizens and registered voters.
Virginia Beach Alumnae has partnered with many organizations while implementing its programs and projects. The chapter welcomes the opportunity to combine our collective efforts with other organizations to have a greater impact in the community.

Hosting the Regional Director’s Luncheon at the 1984 Regional Conference in which Founder Bertha Pitts Campbell was in attendance.
Virginia Beach Alumnae Chapter was the first African American organization to receive a grant from the City of Virginia Beach Arts and Humanities Commission. With this grant, the chapter sponsored “A Festival on Broadway” in May 1995 featuring Soror Roslyn Burrough of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. National Arts and Letters Commission.
In 1996, the International and Awareness Involvement Committee's South African Doll Project received television media coverage.
Developed the Sadye M. Ringer-Shaw and Helen Pope Shropshire Memorial Scholarships; Hosted Jabberwock; Facilitated Betty Shabazz Delta Academy, Delta GEMS and May Week supporting the nurturing and development of children in our community.
VBAC is an active participant in Adopt-A-Highway promoting community beautification.
Received the “Sisters Taking Action” award at the 28th South Atlantic Regional Conference in 2018.
Received the 2018 Lambda Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Excellence in Service Award.
In 2019, received a Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. DREF grant to sponsor the I AM HER Symposium.
Received the 2019 Seatack Civic League Community Service Award.
Virginia Beach Alumnae Chapter annually participates in Delta Days in the Virginia General Assembly, Delta Days at the Nation's Capitol; Delta Days at United Nations and is the pulse on the political landscape in our community.
In July of 2022, VBAC received a Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. DREF grant to host and facilitate a Domestic Violence Abuse Prevention Series.
Virginia Beach Alumnae Chapter is a member of the South Hampton Roads Pan-Hellenic Council (SHARPC); National Council of Negro Women, a charter member of the Virginia African African Cultural Center and a Lifetime member of the Virginia Beach Branch of the NAACP.
